A Vasilias Nikoklis Inn wedding

Libby & Lewis

Libby and Lewis’ Vasilias Nikoklis Inn wedding was one of our favorites for the year! Vasilias Nikoklis Inn is a beautiful, rustic gem tucked away in the countryside of Paphos. It’s a family owned inn with over a 100 years of history amongst those stone walls. It’s completely private and the energy is so calm and tranquil – perfect for the most magical Cyprus wedding.

Their LOVE STORY in their own words:

We met on a dating website called ‘Tinder’. We decided to meet up in our local town ‘Burton Upon Trent’ in a nightclub called ‘The Association’. I was with my friend Georgia (Bridesmaid) and Lewis was with his friend Ben (Usher). We instantly clicked! After this drunken night our we decided to meet up again – 8th June 2015 (First date)

Engagement – 9th June 2017 – Gran Canaria. Lewis asked me to marry him on the second night of our holiday. After a lovely sunny day we were getting ready to head out for a meal, Lewis got down on one knee and proposed. I was in complete shock! All I said was ‘Have you asked my Dad!’ We then rang all our closest family and friends and told them the good news!

1. Why did we pick the venue?
We picked the venue (Vasilias Nikoklis Inn) because we wanted to go down the traditional family run/Cypriot route. We didn’t like the idea of getting married around our hotel where could potential be walking though or around the reception and pool areas. We wanted to keep our special day intimate.

2. What was the biggest challenge you faced in planning your Cyprus wedding?
As we didn’t have a wedding planner it was stressful trying to organise everything, from table décor to dj etc. Luckily for us we had help from Christina at the venue with sourcing suppliers and Mandy and Louis did everything they could for us. They were all a great help.

3. What inspired your wedding décor?
We went for, what we called, Mediterranean Glam after spending hours on Pinterest and help from our Maid of Honor. We had blushes, pinks and creams on such things as bouquets, flower table runner and seat covers and tried our best to keep everything fresh and crisp. All the groomsmen and fathers had tuxedos and the shiny shoes on, which added to that glam theme. Along with the wedding dress, the bridal party and the venue, it made for some fantastic pictures taken by two amazing photographers.

4. What was your favourite part of the day?
Groom – My favourite part was Libby walking down to me. At this time I felt all my pre-wedding nerves had gone and could, from that moment on, enjoy the rest of what was going to be an unbelievable day for me, Libby & everyone involved.
Bride – My favourite part was going in to the fields next to the venue, to have photographs with Mandy and Louis. The setting was out of this world and they made us both feel so comfortable and managed to get some great shots.
Both – The speeches were a massive highlight for both of us. All the speeches were hand written and not just copied off the internet so they made for such a good and very emotional part of the day, with a good balance of humour.

5. Anything you would change if you could?
The only thing we would change about our whole day was probably not staying at the venue on the night of the wedding. It would have been good to wake up the next morning and have a nice breakfast to reflect on our wedding day. Just the two of us.

6. Any advice for couples planning your wedding now.
It can be stressful but you should always go for what you want to do as a couple. Try not to involve too many people in the planning of the wedding as everyone will have a different opinion and may end up swaying you to do something which you don’t want or haven’t planned to do. Everyone who loves you and thinks highly of you will be there no matter what.
