Agioi Anargyroi wedding
Zoe & Mark
When September arrived and it was time for Zoe & Mark’s Agioi Anargyroi wedding we had butterflies. September is gorgeous weather for a wedding outside and we love this little blue & white chapel at Cape Greco overlooking the sea.
Their love story in their own words:
We met at work in London in 2013. I started a new job and a week later, Mark joined from Manchester. We instantly clicked. Engagement – 23.12.2019 – Cyprus. We were at my parents’ house, visiting for Christmas. Mark suggested we go for a walk at Cape Greco where we normally go walking. I asked my sister if she wanted to join us but since she knew what the plan was, she said she had to wash her hair… I thought nothing of this. Mark said he would be cold outside so he borrowed my dad’s large coat. I found out later this was so he could hide the ring box inside. When we got there, we headed towards the cliff edge and as I was taking photos of the sea, I turned around and Mark was on one knee with a ring in his hand. He proposed and I of course said yes. We continued walking, taking it all in and enjoying the moment. When we returned to the house we all had champagne to celebrate. It was lovely to share this moment with my parents’ and sister. As it was our dog’s first birthday too, we even treated ourselves to an extra bottle of champagne!
Why did you pick the venue/s that you chose?
We chose to get married at Agioi Anargyroi chapel in Cape Greco, Ayia Napa because it was close to where Mark proposed and the views of the sea from there are stunning. We chose to have our reception at Sunwing Resort Sandy Bay because it has a beautiful outdoor area for the cocktail party and a spacious indoor area with a dance floor for the meal and dancing.
What was the biggest challenge you faced in planning your Cyprus wedding?
The biggest challenge was trying to visualise the transformation of the reception venue because it hadn’t been used for a wedding before, but thanks to my family living in Cyprus and the vendors we used, it turned out even better than we had imagined and Mandy and Louis did a great job at capturing it.
What inspired your wedding décor? Did you have a theme in mind?
I really like greenery and modern decor so our theme was white, gold and greenery with a modern, fresh look.
What was your favorite part of the day? Does your spouse have a different favorite?
My favourite part of the day was during our couple’s photo shoot. Mandy and Louis made us feel so relaxed. Travelling between the locations with the VW camper van, with our first glass of champagne as husband and wife, made it even more fun. Mark’s favourite part of the day was the entrance to the evening reception. A real buzz to walk in with all our guests on their feet and clapping to one of our favourite songs, September by Earth Wind and Fire.
Anything you would change if you could?
We actually can’t think of anything we would change.
Any advice for couples planning their Cyprus wedding now?
For anyone planning their wedding now, decide what is most important to you and your partner and book those vendors first; then you can relax more with the rest of the planning. If you choose not to have a wedding planner because you enjoy the planning process, it’s worth having a wedding coordinator for the day, to ensure everything runs smoothly.
